Palm Springs, California Desert, art and architecture

A resort town in the Sonoran Desert about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, Palm Springs was a place I always wanted to visit.

What a surprise I got! The most shocking sight was the lack of grass… this is the desert and the dry, arid climate can be felt everywhere.PALM SPRINGS.9The little that I saw of this desert town (the weekend consisted more of catching up with great friends in a beautiful mid-century designed home) was what was in our neighborhood: flat, dry, arid, cactus-like and at the foot of several mountains.PALM SPRINGS.3PALM SPRINGS.1PALM SPRINGS.2PALM SPRINGS.6Mid-century architecture could be seen almost everywhere and it is my favorite!PALM SPRINGS.5PALM SPRINGS.8PALM SPRINGS.11PALM SPRINGS.4PALM SPRINGS.10We discovered briefly the heart of town which is tiny but charming and historical nonetheless.PALM SPRINGS.12PALM SPRINGS.13The house we rented was actually the biggest treat of all. Spending quality time with amazing friends in a beautiful setting, what more could you ask for! Oh and of course having Marcel our furry friend around was even a bigger treat.PALM SPRINGS.38PALM SPRINGS.37PALM SPRINGS.39PALM SPRINGS.44PALM SPRINGS.15We were really lucky to have our good pal Marcel the papillon with us.PALM SPRINGS.45PALM SPRINGS.16It was hard to decide if we were happier inside with all the great decoration or outside in the balmy, desert sun.PALM SPRINGS.43PALM SPRINGS.42PALM SPRINGS.36PALM SPRINGS.40PALM SPRINGS.14The light differed greatly from sunrise to sunset and with our jet lag, we gladly woke up early to discover the sights.PALM SPRINGS.21PALM SPRINGS.17PALM SPRINGS.19PALM SPRINGS.18PALM SPRINGS.20PALM SPRINGS.28PALM SPRINGS.23PALM SPRINGS.26PALM SPRINGS.25PALM SPRINGS.27PALM SPRINGS.30PALM SPRINGS.35PALM SPRINGS.24PALM SPRINGS.34PALM SPRINGS.33PALM SPRINGS.32PALM SPRINGS.31PALM SPRINGS.29I have to say that this was definitely a town to feast your eyes on.
